We spend time during the day reading for pleasure, the children read independently and then listen to part of the class novel being read aloud. The children are encouraged to recommend books to each other and to discuss why they like certain books.

In Year 5, we use comprehension Ninja, which is brilliant for exposing children to a range of fiction and non-fiction texts. Each day of the week we will focus on two of the reading strands in depth and allow children to explore the same text, in depth, for the whole week.
